The Artwork of Melanie Entner-Heard

Thanks for visiting my home page! I would like to first thank all my recent customers for supporting my art work and hopefully many new customers to come. Living at Grasslands Farm is truly a wonderful place to experience farm animals and wildlife right at my back door. I couldn't imagine finding a more inspirational environment. My love of animals have my husband and I sharing our lives with eighteen horses with a baby foal due this Spring, eight chickens, three cats, two dogs, two guinea pigs, and five goldfish. Not to forget the sixty or so head of Angus cattle and their calves. The wildlife also seems endless... red fox, raccoons, coyote, skunks, deer, wild turkey, opossums, and beautiful birds. Even the majestic bald eagle has visited our pond.

I earned my Bachelors of Art degree from George Mason University, but owe my love of the arts to my parents who always encouraged myself and my siblings to always set aside time to create. My father loved to paint in oils and it would not be uncommon to find one of his kids up in his studio working beside him. He didn't sell a lot of his work, but he was very prolific. Unfortunately he passed away at 48 from cancer. In honor of his memory, I still use my maiden name when I sign my paintings. I like to think he still paints through me. When I am not spending time with animals or painting, I am an avid Hagen Renaker collector and am always on the look out for "the one I don't have...yet". I am also proficient and enjoy photography, pottery, and fabric craft ornaments.
